Hearing Tuesday on comp plan development area

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Tuesday night on the proposed Gloucester Point/Hayes Area Development Plan, beginning at 8 p.m. in the colonial courthouse.

The Gloucester Planning Commission has recommended approval of the plan, which will be included in the county’s comprehensive plan, and will help guide decision-making for the future physical and economic growth of the area.

The plan will focus on the corridors of Greate Road, Hayes Road and Crewe Road. It includes background information, as well as goals and land use recommendations, according to a county notice. The plan also outlines the benefits of incorporating mixed uses and mixed densities into the outlined areas through the use of traditional neighborhood design principles.

Several town meetings have been held in the Gloucester Point area over the past year with county staff to explain the plan and as an opportunity for the public to have input into the document.
