Hearing tonight on revised Dollar General application

Rhetson Companies LLC, which has made application several times to Mathews County to construct a Dollar General store at the intersection of Routes 198 and 3 at Cobbs Creek, has again applied for a conditional use permit for a structure at that location.

A joint public hearing on an amended proffer for Condition 1 of the Conceptual Plan, which was submitted with the application, will be held before the Mathews County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors at 7 o’clock tonight, Thursday, Nov. 10, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

According to a staff report on the project, the request to amend the proffer stems from a proposed change to the project’s Conceptual Plan. Rhetson has requested to change the commercial portion of the plan located along Twiggs Ferry Road to retail and remove multi-family residential units, he said.
