Hearing next month on employee bonuses

Gloucester County employees will have to wait another month to learn if they will receive extra money for the holiday season.

Brenda Garton, Gloucester County’s administrator, informed the board at its meeting Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse that state code requires localities to pass an ordinance that stated bonuses would be given.

The board voted 4-3 to send an ordinance to public hearing Dec. 7 that would allow Gloucester County to give bonuses to its employees if money were available, and the decision would be delegated to the county administrator.

This still does not mean that full-time county employees would see $400 bonuses next month. Supervisors voting for the ordinance to be implemented included Carter Borden (York), Bobby Crewe (Gloucester Point), Buddy Rilee (Abingdon) and Louise Theberge (At-large).
