Hazardous waste collection to be held in Hartfield

Residents and property owners of Mathews, Middlesex, King and Queen, King William and Essex counties will have an opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 18, to clean out their kitchen and bath cabinets, sheds, garages and attics.

Household chemicals will be accepted at a collection event to be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department, 3309 Twiggs Ferry Road.

The collection, sponsored by the five counties and the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority, will provide an outlet to dispose of materials not accepted at transfer stations or convenience centers. The collection is open to all residents and property owners of the sponsoring counties at no cost. Proof of residency or property ownership will be required.
