August proved to be a lucky time for Hayes residents, as two of them claimed big prizes from the Virginia Lottery last month.

When Jenkins looked at the winning numbers in the Virginia Lottery Cash 5 drawing, she saw something she’d never seen before.

“I went running to the other room to grab my glasses!” she recalled. With the help of her glasses, she was able to confirm that she’d matched all five numbers to win the $100,000 top prize.

“It took me an hour to get myself together to get in the car,” she said.

The winning numbers were 7-12-23-25-31. She used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to randomly select the numbers on her ticket.
