Chad Brian Sayers, 34, of the 7000 block of Chapman Drive in Hayes was charged with involuntary manslaughter after Gloucester Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a gunshot victim at his home just after 4 p.m. Friday.

The officers found Sayers’ mother, 58-year-old Cheryl Barnes Sayers, had been shot at the home she shared with her son. She died shortly afterward at a local hospital. The investigation is continuing, the sheriff’s office said. ...
