Have fun, but be safe while trick-or-treating

Even though many look forward to Halloween as a carefree night full of costumes, candy and fun, extra caution should be exercised—whether taking part in independent trick-or-treating, or even taking part in organized events, such as those being offered in Gloucester tonight.

Gloucester Sheriff Darrell Warren said the suggested time for children 12 and under to trick-or-treat is from 6-8:30 p.m.

For those wishing to have a more structured experience for their child, the Gloucester Main Street Association will again sponsor its Main Street Trick-or-Treat event. It will be held from 5:30-8 along Gloucester’s Main Street, and representatives from participating businesses will be handing out candy along the route.

Main Street from Edgehill Town Center to the Court Circle will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5-8:30 p.m. to provide a safer experience for children, Warren said. However, those who need to return to their houses or who wish to dine on Main Street will be ...
