HARVEY BELL ROWE SR.

Harvey Bell Rowe Sr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at his home in Harcum, Va.
 
He was born in Newport News, Va., to the late Gaither S. and Aurelia Belle Rowe. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
 
A master welder, Mr. Rowe worked for Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for over 30 years, then continued his career with Modern Machine and Tool in Newport News. He then was self-employed for over 20 years, doing contract welding well into his eighties. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 25 years, an ordained deacon for 50 years. He was a 60-year Mason belonging to Warwick Masonic Lodge #336.
 
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, David Malone and Dominic Andreoli.
 
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth Rowe; children, Diane Malone of Harcum,  Brenda Andreoli of Pantego, N.C., and Harvey B. Rowe Jr. and his wife Trish of Newberry, Fla.; brother, Gaither Rowe of Newport News; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, and three nephews.
 
The family received friends at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester Court House on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, from 6:30-8 p.m. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gloucester. Burial was in the church cemetery.
 
Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
 
The family wishes to express thanks to the local volunteer fire and rescue squad for their excellent care on numerous occasions over the past several years.
