HARRY KEMP EAGLE

Harry Kemp Eagle, 75, of Saluda, employed by Phillips Energy, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Harry was very proud of his Native American Cherokee heritage; his Cherokee blood strengthened his character to stand strongly in what he believed in and that was, family first, cookouts second and a good bowling game wouldn’t hurt anyone. In addition, he took great pleasure in watching Washington Nationals baseball games and Washington Redskins football games.

His family summed up their memories by simply stating “He was the strongest, most courageous and noble man we have ever known, and he will be missed terribly.” His parents, Herbert Lee Eagle and Venie Lou Wray Eagle, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Mary P. Eagle; children, Marie Croxton (Bobby), Timmy Oliver (Sherry), Pam Norman (Steve), Tammy Johnson (Scott), Tracy Burke (Jimmy), Dennis Oliver (Ashley), Michelle Lee Eagle; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. W. Donald Ambrose were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. The family received friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In Harry’s memory, contributions may be made to Gloucester Youth Bowling League, c/o Village Lanes, 7307 John Clayton Memorial Hwy., Gloucester, Va. 23061 or St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, Mont. 59004.
