HARRIET ‘FRANCES’ BELVIN PHILLIPS

Harriet “Frances” Belvin Phillips, age 85, of Gloucester Point, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

Frances was a graduate of Achilles High School, class of 1947 and Elizabeth Buxton Hospital class of 1950 as a Registered Nurse. She continued her education at Barnes University, Missouri-St. Louis in Anesthesiology. Returning to Virginia, Harriet was affiliated with Riverside Regional Hospital, as well as Hampton Veterans Hospital, retiring in the mid 1990s.

Husband, Warren Phillips; parents, Howard and Hazel Belvin; sister, Doris Rowe, and brother, Bennie Belvin preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Norris; granddaughter, Jennifer Norris; three sisters, Catherine Ashe, Hazel Rowe and husband Francis, and Sue Blake and husband Graham; a devoted nephew, Tommy Ashe and wife Paulette; a kind and compassionate friend, Jean Smith, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Bud Goude were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
