Harpole to address genealogical society meeting Monday

The Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia will hold its first meeting of the year at 10 a.m. Monday in the community room of Gloucester Public Library, Main Street Center.

Gloucester-based archaeologist Thane Harpole will speak about the latest discoveries, artifacts and research developments at the old Catlett farm, Timberneck, and the surrounding property that is now a vital part of Virginia’s newest state park, Machicomoco.

Harpole is co-director of the Fairfield Foundation and has been directly involved in many local archaeological excavations. Monday’s meeting is free and open to the public.
