Harold Franklin Gwyn Jr., 90, of Newport News, passed away on Dec. 10, 2015.

After high school Harold began his career with C & P Telephone Co. (Bell Atlantic) which he retired from after 35 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a member of St. Tammany Lodge #5, AF & AM, and a member of Central United Methodist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Frances C. Gwyn, and his parents, Harold F. Gwyn Sr. and Countess Gwyn, and a sister, Eileen Haywood.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Rothschild of Newport News; a son, Harold F. “Hal” Gwyn III and his wife Terrie of Hampton; grandson, Shawn Gwyn of Roanoke, and granddaughter, Harmony Rapciewicz of Gloucester.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Chaplain David Lekarczyk with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was private.
