Steve Harger and Brian West won the Big Bash Bass Tournament series event at Beaverdam Park on Saturday. The pair took first place with 15 pounds, 10 ounces of bass. 

Second place went to Barry Brandt and Robert Brandt with 15 pounds, five ounces and in third place were Patrick West and Ricky Taylor with 12 pounds, 13 ounces. Clarence Jenkins and Chuck Conger were fourth and Dennis Murray and Curt Murray were fifth. Dennis Murray had the big fish with a five-pound, five-ounce specimen. 

The opening event of the 2014 series attracted 32 boats and saw 131 bass caught and released, despite the wet and overcast day.  The anglers reported the bass were not easy to catch, with most hooked in five to six feet of water. She also said the crappie are still biting all over the lake and in the eastside shadows.
