Hands-On-History Day at Historic Christ Church set for July 14

Historic Christ Church and Museum in Weems will hold its annual Hands-On History Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Thursday, July 14.Children ages 6-12 years are invited to explore the history of Christ Church and colonial Virginia through a variety of activities at the Lancaster County historic site.

Participants will be able to make a brick by hand, write with a quill pen and make a grave rubbing inside the 1735 church. They will also dig on an archaeological site, play colonial games and dress in colonial clothing.

Inside the museum, children can become an “undertaker,” or colonial builder, by constructing a brick wall, an arch with a keystone and a king-post roof truss. Participants will enjoy a pizza party for lunch and take home a souvenir Hands-On History swag bag and Museum Activity Book.
