Hands Across Mathews, a nonprofit established 1986 and dedicated to providing assistance to families experiencing crises in the Mathews area, is currently restructuring how certain items are donated and stored, and has temporarily closed its clothing assistance. All other programs provided will continue to stay open to those in need of assistance.
According to Hands Across Mathews president Jan Mohr, the organization has decided to undergo some changes to operations, and hours. The donation shed that used to be left unlocked for donations will become a medical supply area that will stay locked. Any clothing needing to be donated, can now be placed into large donation bins that have been added on grounds.
Clothing assistance is closed for cleaning, purging and reorganizing, said Mohr, and will reopen May 1. Once reopened, the hours for clothing availability will be slightly adjusted. Typically, the hours open for clothing and small appliances are the first and third Thursdays of each mo...
