Hair Creations celebrates 35th anniversary

Hair Creations, a family salon in Mathews, is celebrating its 35th year in business in 2017. Owner/hair stylist Valerie R. Bass said she plans to hold a customer appreciation event in July, which will include service discounts and refreshments.

Bass ran the business until 2007 with a partner, the late Janice Lee Mitchem of Mathews. The shop was located on Main Street in Mathews for many years. She relocated to her current space beside Stewart’s Tile & Carpet Center in the 10500 block of Buckley Hall Road about seven years ago.

Bass offers cuts, traditional color and highlights, and waxing services. Bass keeps current with changing styles by taking online training offered by product manufacturers. Her clients include men, women and children; she fits walk-ins around appointments when she can and offers to stay later on some nights and Saturdays to accommodate clients who can’t make it back to Mathews earlier because they work on the Peninsula or elsewhere out of the co...
