The Gypsy’s Wagon, an eclectic consignment shop at 302 Main Street in Mathews, is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Friday with longer hours, refreshments and entertainment.
Shop manager Carrie Munn said the celebration will be held from 2-6 p.m., exactly one year after the shop opened on May 16. The birthday bash will include a birthday cake, balloons, a variety of refreshments, and outdoor entertainment by local singer/songwriters.
More than 20 vendors have booths at Gypsy’s Wagon, said Munn, and many of them will be on-site for a meet-and-greet to kick off their anniversary sales. Anyone who purchases an item during the four-hour celebration will have their name entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate, she said.
“There’s something here for everyone—even the weird ones,” said Munn with a laugh. “Antiques of all kind, gently-used fashion items, nautical items, upcycled furniture, décor, jewelry, hand-crafted items, gifts—you really get a good mix. If one vendor is not your style, the next one might be.”
Munn said Friday will be a great time for people to stop by who’ve never seen the shop before.
“I hope people will find us that haven’t already and spread the word,” she said.
