GYF teams take on York Seaford

The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League had an eventful Saturday as its teams took on the York Seaford Bulldogs and Falcons.

The Mighty Mites defeated Yorktown, 20-14. Coach Damion Stokes said the offense was led by Durrell Daisy who rushed for 150 yards on just nine carries and recorded a TD on the ground. Cam Pluim rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.

The defense was led by Tyrell Daisy who had 10 tackles and a pick-six. He also rushed for 84 yards. Isaiah Davenport recorded five tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. That fumble was recovered by Pluim who also had five tackles.

The Midget Knights won in overtime against Yorktown, 21-20. Coach Ray Cook said Kayvion Wilson had a standout performance with 41 rushing yards, two touchdowns, an extra point and six tackles earning him Offensive MVP. Evan McNulty had six tackles earning him Defensive MVP. E.J. Lemon was awarded best offensive lineman and William Walker got best defensive lineman.
