The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League Knights played several games over the weekend.
The 6U Knights defeated the York Seaford Falcons, 30-14, on Saturday and Bennett Creek, 6-0, on Sunday. The 8U Knights fell to the 757 Colts, 13-0. Notable players for the 8U Knights were Carson Robbins, Tristan Riley and Apollos Davison.
The 10U Knights fell to the Colts, 26-19. Chase Robbins led the defense for the Knights with five tackles, followed by Kaleb McArthur with three, Nicholas Pecina and Carter Wilson, two each, and Penelope Bishop and Alexander Elias with one tackle apiece. Michael Blasing recorded one tackle for loss. Michael Smith led the offense with eight carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Blasing had five carries for 52 and Cooper Crittenden had three carries for 14 yards.
The 12U undefeated Knights defeated the Colts, 25-6. In the first play of the game, J.J. Koch pitched to Rylee Hogge who threw to Anthony Hodges for a 55-yard reception which resulted in a touchdown. Hogge also recorded two receptions and two touchdowns. The defense allowed one touchdown and recorded several sacks and tackles for loss. Rosie Thomas recorded multiple tackles.
For 12U cheer, Kaylee Garner was named the most spirited and Paislee Cogan had the best technique.
The 14U Knights fell to the Colts, 19-0. Taneall Kee was named most spirited for the 14U cheer team.
Flag football
The Lady Knights 14U flag football team earned a shutout win of 38-0 over Isle of Wight. Jemma Washington led scoring with two touchdowns, while Amaylah Smith, Lillie Green, Ava Rice and Braelyn Owens added one each. Aaliyah Cook rushed for 20 yards, while Taleigha Cook added 15 yards and Dalia Thompson contributed 10. Leylah Smith, Katalayah Smith and Ava LeFever had multiple flag pulls.
The 10U Lady Knights tied with Isle of Wight, 32-32. Genesis Pluim led the offense with three touchdowns, followed by Ella Hudgins with two and Alayna Hudgins scoring both extra points. Pluim, Hudgins and Taylor Cook all recorded flag pulls.
The 6U Knights flag football team defeated the York Seaford Falcons, 30-14. Ethan Robbins scored four touchdowns and rushed for 10 yards. Quarterback Ellianna Howard scored one extra point for 10 yards. Avante Holmes Parker scored a touchdown for 15 yards and Kylie Jurgensen recorded 24 yards. Robbins led the defense with seven flag pulls, followed by Jurgensen with three and Parker, Robert Allen and Easton Jackson with two pulls each. The 6U Knights all defeated Bennetts Creek, 6-0, over the weekend.
