Gwynn’s Island Festival returns Saturday

Saturday will mark a milestone for the Gwynn’s Island Festival, celebrating its 70th year of providing food, fun and fellowship for island residents and visitors.

This year’s festival, which will feature over 50 vendors, is scheduled to take place between 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on and around the Gwynn’s Island Civic Center grounds.

“We are keeping the tradition alive and going,” said Jan Bassett, who is the festival chairman. “We are excited that this is our 70th annual festival.”

This year, Bassett said the festival will feature more vendors than it had last year and more of those vendors will offer for sale more homemade goods and their artistic wares than retail.

Children’s activities will also be highlighted this year once again, as the festival will bring back its Kid’s Zone, which promises to be a great time for the younger generation.
