Daniel Spooner, 3, of Gloucester, seems to be having the time of his life as he takes a turn behind the wheel of a Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad engine during Sunday’s open house at Station 1 on Main Street. While that fire engine was set up only for display (without the keys in the ignition), firefighters did drive other youngsters and their parents around the Court House in other fire engines, giving them a chance to experience what it’s like to travel in a real fire truck. The GVFRS open house also included fire safety displays, coloring books, snacks and a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog.
