Guy B. German, 85, of Newport News, died Sunday, September 11, 2016, at home.

He was a native of Gloucester and resided on the Peninsula for the past 55 years. He retired from civil service after many years, was a member of Menchville Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  

He was predeceased by his first wife Joan, and is survived by his wife, Oneida B. German; children, Randy German (Sharon), Monte German (Janet Weymouth-German), Karen Green (Frank) and Kristi Cluverius (Joe); stepchildren, Reid Bridges (Michelle), Vicky Spiers (Mark); 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jim Weston, 11 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Menchville Baptist Church with a reception to follow. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Menchville Baptist Church, 248 Menchville Road, Newport News, Va. 23602.
