Gustav G. Schwarz, age 83, of Newport News, died at his home, Jan. 24, 2019.

Gus retired from Waterfront Lumber Company as an architectural draftsman. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Yorktown and choir member.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amy V. Schwarz; daughters, Carol M. Salber, Ruth E. Keane (David), Alma L. Cole (Reb); grandchildren, Veronica, Christopher, Joseph, Elizabeth, Melissa, Nicholas, Robert; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Logan, Serenity, Leland, Patrick, Michael and Lydia.  

A memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Joel Neubauer, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Yorktown. Inurnment will be private.
