Gunn’s Body Shop, located on Main Street in Gloucester village, is under new ownership.

Keith Smith of Chesterfield recently purchased the automotive vehicle repair shop from former owner Vickie Gunn of Mathews, who has retired. The business was started by Gunn’s father, Marvin, in 1959.

Smith said he has retained the well-known name of the business and its full line of vehicle repairs and service. Gunn’s six technicians perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and tires to all types of bigger repairs jobs except heavy engine and transmission work.

In addition, Smith said he has made some changes since he took over several months ago. For example, he has upgraded his two vehicle paint booths, now stocks waterborne paints, and he plans to add specialty equipment to service all aluminum pickup trucks.

Although Gunn’s does not offer state inspection service, Smith said, its staff does perform pre-inspection repairs that are needed to pass an inspection. ...
