Guitarist Larry Carlton opens RFA season Sept. 10

Acclaimed guitarist Larry Carlton and his band are coming to Kilmarnock on Saturday, Sept. 10, to open the 2022-23 On Stage season of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts.

The four-time Grammy winner, who has played with everyone from Joni Mitchell to Sammy Davis Jr., will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Middle School Theater. In his show, “The ’78 Album: Steely Dan Remembered,” Carlton will share songs and stories from his days as primary guitarist for Steely Dan. Those days included a memorable guitar solo on “Kid Charlemagne,” which Rolling Stone magazine calls one of the three best guitar licks in rock music.
