Guinea’s changing landscape

The end of the road at Maryus, leading to marshes and a watery overlook, is shown in photos from 1961 by the late Walter Becknell (top photo) and 2023 by David Grow (bottom photo). Then-and-now comparative photos by Becknell, who was a Gazette-Journal photographer specializing in aerial photography, and by Grow, who has been flying for decades, will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday in Buck’s Store Museum, Bena. Grow and wife Linda, his flying companion, will present this program for the Guinea Heritage Association. It is free and open to the public, and will be followed by refreshments.
