Guinea Heritage Day to be held Sunday

To kick off this year’s Guinea Jubilee, which will be held on the last weekend of the month, the Guinea Heritage Association will hold its Guinea Heritage Day Unveiling on Sunday at the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Bena. The program begins at 2 p.m.

At that time, some big news will be announced, including the name of the 2015 grand marshal, as well as the winner of the 2015 Print Contest. Achilles Student Art Contest winners will also be announced that Sunday afternoon.

Visitors to Sunday’s event will be able to purchase signed prints, T-shirts, collectibles and other items. Refreshments will be provided.

There will also be a limited quantity of homemade Guinea cakes available for purchase at Sunday’s event. There is a minimum donation of $25 for each cake to support the Guinea Heritage Association. However, higher donations for the cakes will be gladly accepted.
