A good-sized crowd gathered at the Abingdon Ruritan Club on Sunday for Guinea Heritage Day, the annual kickoff celebration for the Guinea Jubilee, now in its 36th year. The jubilee itself will be held Sept. 25 and 26 on the grounds of the Abingdon Ruritan Club on Guinea Road in Bena.
The highlights of the afternoon were the announcement of the grand marshal for the 2015 Guinea Jubilee Parade and auctioning the first print of the painting chosen to represent the 2015 festival.
Later that day, Jacqueline Bonniville was crowned Miss Guinea Jubilee and Grand Ambassador in the Guinea Jubilee Pageant, which was also held in the Abingdon Ruritan Club building.
