Guinea Heritage Association pauses to look back at 2019

The year has been good to us with a successful, weather-blessed, Guinea Jubilee. What a fun weekend filled with fire trucks, bands, good food, crafts, varied entertainment and of course lots of visits among friends both old and new.

Guinea Heritage Day moved to the new venue at Achilles Elementary; Nan McComber was announced as current Grand Marshal and the reigning “Guinealogist,” or Guinea Genealogist; art winner Judy Rowe Mays was presented with her winning fine art “Flip Flops”; photography winner Kelly Masderosian picture “Days of Yesteryear” captured a reimagined 1950s Buck Rowe’s Store; 2020 Miss Guinea Jubilee, Chloe Cobb was crowned and the new Guinea Cookbook was introduced and sales have continued to be strong.

The year has also seen varied events at Buck Rowe’s Store Museum; with Bill Jenkins and the Virginia Mountain Boys presenting a second concert at the museum to the enjoyment of the audience. Kim & Lana returned thi...
