Guinea Dipping to be held March 16

The Gloucester Rowing Association will host its sixth annual Guinea Dipping fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Gloucester Point Beach, as members of the crew and the community will brave the frigid waters of the York River to raise funds for the GRA.

For $25 a person, participants take the plunge and receive an event T-shirt while also raising money to ensure the GRA can continue to compete. As was the case in previous years, there will be a heated tent for changing after the plunge itself.

A Virginia Marine Resources Commission dive team will be on hand for safety purposes as participants run from the beach out to the dive team members, high-five the officers, and return to the beach.

Additionally, a diving demonstration, music, food from local vendors, and raffles will fill out the three-hour event.
