Guinea Dipping

About 36 people braved the cold temperatures and even colder water Saturday afternoon to participate in the Gloucester Rowing Association’s annual Guinea Dipping fundraiser, which was held at Gloucester Point Beach. The event was organized to raise funds for the GRA’s crew to assist in continuing to make the sport possible for those who wish to participate. Similar to a polar plunge, each rower was responsible for raising $100 in sponsors in order to dip and family members and friends were welcome to dip for a donation as well. Fundraiser chair Jack Moore said the event’s goal was $10,000 and it raised just shy of that amount at $9,800. Proceeds from the Guinea Dipping will help reduce fees for rowers.
