‘Groovin’ in the Park’ concert this weekend

The Josh Walker Trio will headline the Labor Day weekend “Groovin’ in the Park” concert beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, 287 Jackson Creek Road.

Sharon Rae North, who has had several songs hit the jazz charts, will join the trio, singing old standards and popular jazz tunes. She has opened for such national acts as Bob James and Patti LaBelle, and has performed nationally and abroad.

Josh Walker, an award-winning jazz guitarist who plays in multiple groups, is the Professor of Jazz Guitar at Shepherd University in West Virginia. His internationally-known trio has performed as far away as Japan, said a press release.

Toby Gillie and The Unpredictables will open at 5 p.m. Gillie is known for unusual, wacky, fun performances.

Gates open at 4 p.m. All “Groovin’” 2021 tickets will be honored. Those attending should bring a lawn chair and may bring a picnic to the casual waterfront park.
