Grimm makes Time magazine’s list of ‘Most Influential Teens’

Gloucester High School student Gavin Grimm is included in Time magazine’s list of the “30 Most Influential Teens of 2016.” The list appears in the latest issue of Time.

The magazine said in determining the annual list, it considers accolades across numerous fields, global impact through social media, and overall ability to drive news. 

Grimm, who was born female but identifies as a male, gained media attention when he sued the Gloucester County School Board for not allowing him to use the boys’ restrooms.

Grimm’s federal lawsuit is on hold while the U.S. Supreme Court considers whether it will take up the issue. Time said Grimm “has become a poster child in America’s culture war over LGBT rights” after teaming with the ACLU to sue his school district.

Other teens on the list include Malala Yousafzai, Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles, Jaden Smith, Shawn Mendes, and Sasha and Malia Obama.  ...
