Grief support for parents offered at Gloucester Library

Addy’s Colors, a local nonprofit organization that helps children with chronic illnesses and their families, including families that have experienced the death of a child, will hold in-person grief support for parents from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 through Dec. 21 at Gloucester Library, Main Street Center.

The organization was started in memory of Adalee Ashburn, a 2-year-old girl who was diagnosed with adrenal cancer in 2017. She fought for six months at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital before passing away on Jan. 9, 2018.

The group is unique in that at least one group leader has experienced the death of a child. The local group will be led by Amanda Ashburn and Nina Fitchett. The group, which is free to families, previously met virtually due to COVID-19 but will now meet in person.
