Greene picks up 1-hit win

Gloucester High School softball players had a win and a narrow loss in recent action to stand at 9-2 overall. 

Sophomore Kirsten Greene (7-2) threw a one-hit, complete game shutout to Bethel on Tuesday. The Dukes powered by the Bruins in the 20-0 win, collecting 13 hits in only four at bats. 

Jessica Hogge went four-for-five with four RBIs and scored two runs for Gloucester. Tori Mielnik had two hits, including a double, with two RBIs and two runs scored.

“This was a nice win,” said GHS head coach Red Lindsay. “All 13 young ladies recorded a hit, scored a run or drove in a run.”

Last week, the Dukes let a six-run lead slip away as Warwick upended them, 8-7. Gloucester scored six runs in the second inning with RBI singles from Jackie Tobin, Emma West and Hogge.
