Greene accepts walk-on offer to play for Norfolk State

Gloucester High School senior Kirsten Greene has accepted a preferred walk-on offer to play softball for the Division I Norfolk State Spartans. 

NSU competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and finished the 2019 season at 25-20. The Spartans won the Northern Division regular season title with an 11-4 conference record.

Greene has been a four-year starter for the Dukes. As a freshman, she spent most of her time at second base while seeing spot duty as a pitcher. As a sophomore and junior, Greene led the Dukes from the pitcher’s mound while also playing first base. She moved back to second base as a senior while also going 3-0 on the mound with an ERA of 0.00.

Greene has a career pitching record of 26-8 with two perfect games and two no-hitters to her credit. She has also been a mainstay in the middle of the Dukes’ lineup as she has 88 hits and RBIs for her career.
