Great Decisions group to examine Politics in Latin America

Although much of the world’s attention has focused on Russia, Ukraine and China over the past year, there are also significant political events taking place in our own hemisphere. And the next session of Deltaville Great Decisions will examine that.

Dr. Tatiana Rizova will present on Politics in Latin America at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Deltaville Community Association building, 17147 General Puller Highway.

Electoral results in Latin America over the past four years have led many observers of the regional/political scene to discern a left-wing surge in the hemisphere, reminiscent of the so-called “Pink Tide” that swept the area some 20 years ago, a Great Decisions release stated.

Recently, Peruvian President Pedro Castillo attempted to dissolve congress. Castillo was impeached, detained by police, and replaced by a former left-wing ally.
