Great Decisions group to examine future of global cooperation

The third Deltaville Great Decisions session of 2026 will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the Deltaville Community Association building, 17147 General Puller Highway, Deltaville.

Dr. Thomas F. Lynch III will present on Multilateral Institutions in a Changing World Order. All are welcome. There is no charge to attend.

Can multilateralism survive amid shifting global power and rising nationalism? The Feb. 13 session examines the future of global cooperation across trade, health and finance.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are twin institutions born after a period of intense geopolitical and economic volatility. Their purpose was to better align national interests with international order, thereby bringing stability to an unstable world. In short, their purpose was to restore stability and preserve balance. Yet everywhere we look across the international economic system today, we see imbalance.

Lynch is a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Center for Strategy and Military Power at the Institute of National Strategic Studies of the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. He researches, writes, lectures, teaches and provides in-person expertise during the development and execution of high-level joint warfighting exercises and simulations.

Lynch joined NDU in 2010 after retiring as a colonel from a 28-year active-duty career in the U.S. Army where he served in a variety of command and staff positions as an armor/cavalry officer and as a senior level politico-military analyst. He is a regular multi-media analyst and commentator on national and international programs. He is a member of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations and an adjunct professor in the Security Studies Program in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He holds a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the School of Public & International Affairs (formerly the Woodrow Wilson School) at Princeton University.

The fourth Deltaville Great Decisions session of 2026 will take place on Friday, Feb. 20 when Professor Keith Darden of American University presents on Ukraine and the Future of European Security. For the complete 2026 schedule of topics and speakers, visit www.rivah.life/greatdecisions.
