Grant funding sought for MPPDC septic repair program

The Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, hoping to continue its program of septic tank repair, has partnered with the Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic. They will cooperate to identify sustainable sources of funding for MPPDC’s Onsite Wastewater Septic Repair Assistance Program.

The study, which will be completed in October, will include a review and assessment of national-level examples of septic repair programs, said MPPDC finance director Beth Johnson, including sources of funding, legal issues and administration.

For this program to remain successful locally, Johnson said, “additional sources of grant funding must be identified.”

Various financial partners have been identified at different times during the local program’s 17-year history, she said.
