Grant applications being accepted for Main Street improvements

The Main Street Preservation Trust kicked off its 2017 façade and interior improvement grants program application cycle this week. Applications are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 1.

“This program has been incredibly well received on Main Street with a record number of applications during 2016,” said MSPT executive director Jenny Crittenden.

The program for awarding façade grants is now in its seventh year; it is the fifth year the program will award interior and merchandising assistance grants, Crittenden said. This year, $80,000 is available to be awarded. In 2016, requests for funds totaled $153,000, with MSPT making awards of over $85,000, she said.

Each business that receives an award must match at least dollar for dollar, but many businesses put up more than the required match in order to complete a project, Crittenden said.
