Grand opening Saturday for Second Chance Thrift Store

The newly-established Second Chance Thrift Store, located in the former Thrifty Spot at the corner of Cricket Hill and Buckley Hall roads at Hudgins, will have a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The first 80 customers who make a purchase or donate an item for resale will receive a gift certificate for a free pizza at 7-Eleven. In addition, a drawing will be held for a $50 shopping spree. Refreshments will be served.
The idea for the Second Chance Thrift Store came about after the Thrifty Spot, a nonprofit thrift store established in 2010 by Mathews County’s special education department for the benefit of its students, closed its doors in August. Sisters-in-law Robin H. Dehoux and Robin S. Dehoux, hairdressers at the adjacent Country Cuts, kept seeing people drop by, wanting to know what happened and if the store would re-open.
