Graduations Saturday

In Mathews

Valedictorian Ethan Hudgins and salutatorian Savannah Hartlove will lead the rest of the 54 members of the Mathews High School Class of 2023 into the Harry M. Ward Auditorium on Saturday morning to receive their diplomas.

The school’s 84th commencement exercises will begin at 10 o’clock.

Ethan Alexander Hudgins, the son of Robert and Heather Hudgins of Mathews, attained a 4.58 GPA at Mathews High School. He will attend Virginia Tech in the fall, to study mechanical engineering.

Savannah Grace Hartlove, the daughter of Alan and Kimberly Hartlove of Mathews, achieved a 4.43 GPA. She will attend Old Dominion University, studying mechanical and aerospace engineering.

The program will begin with Mark Givens’ MHS Symphonic Band students performing “Pomp and Circumstance,” followed by his choir’s singing of the National Anthem.
