Goodwin named VHSL Player of Year

The accolades continued this month for some Gloucester High School field hockey players and their coach. Last Thursday, Gloucester senior midfielder Cassidy Goodwin was named the VHSL Group 5A Player of the Year and GHS head coach Mike Miller was named the Coach of the Year. 

Goodwin, recruited by the College of William and Mary, was also named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American Second Team last week after being named to the NFHCA All-South Region Team on Dec. 9. Joining Goodwin on the Group 5A All-State Team were her teammates Brittany Romero, a senior forward, and senior defender Bri Greene. Named to the All-State Second Team were junior forward Karly Harwood and senior defender Meredith LeBel. 

The GHS team won the 2015 VHSL Group 5A State Championship last month after taking regional and conference crowns....
