Good turnout for this year’s MHS cross country teams

Having completed tryouts, the 2016 Mathews High School cross country team is now in preparation for the season that begins next week.

The team has finished three weeks of training, and so far things are looking good. The boys’ team had a good turnout, with over 20 runners participating. The team has two returning seniors—Jalen Thomas and Jordan Jenkins. Joining them are runners Blake Atkins, Caleb Carson, Sean Carlson, Kirk Casper, Solomon Hess, Will Hutcheson, Nathan Jenkins, O’hygie Johnson, Sebastian Knebl, Calvin Kramer, Phillip Metzger, Aaron Miles, Presley Murphy, Josh Rosadino, Caleb Sadler, Austin Smith, Nasir Thomas, Kristopher True and Zak Webb.

The girls’ team also had a good showing during tryouts, fielding more than 15 runners, and is quite experienced, with two seniors and six juniors.
