Golden football

As part of the nationwide Super Bowl 50 celebration, Mathews High School will receive a Wilson Golden Football through the Super Bowl High School Honor Roll. The school is receiving the football in recognition of MHS graduate Stuart Anderson, who was a player on the 1983 Super Bowl winning Washington Redskins. High schools across the country, and the globe, will receive a golden football for every player or head coach who graduated from that school and was on an active Super Bowl roster. More than 2,000 high schools and roughly 3,000 players and coaches will be recognized this season. One of Anderson’s former coaches, Tommy Dutton, will present the golden football during halftime of Tuesday night’s Mathews/King and Queen varsity boys’ basketball game.
