Thanks to a grant from the Caroline McCoy-Jones Private Foundation in Richmond, the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society has received a grant to help further develop its youth programming. With the grant, GMHS has created the Pawsitive Impact Club. “We’ve already had tons of interest,” said GMHS Communications & Development Manager Caitlin Donnelly. The Pawsitive Impact Club is planned to be an ongoing program for children ages six to 11 on the first and third Tuesdays of the month and ages 12-15 the second and fourth Tuesdays. “It will all take place in the Williams Center,” said Donnelly about the forthcoming wing to the shelter, which is set to be completed by the end of the month. Children will help stuff Kongs for dogs, make cat toys, receive a lesson on animal welfare, and learn how they can help animals at their young age.
