The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will hold its “Phantom of the Shelter Gala and Auction” on Jan. 29, 2022. The virtual event will be presented by guardian sponsors Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Wealth Management.

Matching gift

GMHS has kicked off the “Phantom of the Shelter Matching Gift Challenge,” inspired by the giving period traditionally held during the annual gala and auction. Between Dec. 10 and Jan. 31, the shelter is seeking to raise $100,000, which is the amount an anonymous donor is offering to match for this fundraiser.

Monetary donations made to GMHS and dated through Jan. 31 are eligible to be matched. Donations may be made online at gmhumanesociety.org/donate.html, by phone (804-693-5520 ext. 104) and by mail (P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va., 23061).
