A 32-year-old man with no fixed address was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny, destruction of property and petit larceny following a break-in at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society occurring during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 5. “For several hours in the night he was in the building,” said GMHS Executive Director Caitlin Donnelly. “Marie [Jondreau] was the first one on-site.” The shelter’s Highway to Home Coordinator noticed a broken window on the side of the building where staff members intake pets at about 7:30 that morning. Jondreau’s first call was to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office; her second was to Donnelly. Before staff was allowed back in the shelter, GCSO deputies carefully combed through the building and began their investigation.
