Sunday’s Gloucester-Mathews Care Clinic’s Oktoberfest honored Peggy Bowditch as a pillar in the organization as it was founded and has grown over the last 19 years. Bowditch, second from left, is shown with GMCC interim executive director Dave Burns, at left, Peggy’s son Sherwood and daughter-in-law Whitney Bowditch. Sherwood Bowditch brought his mother to the front of the crowd to be acknowledged and delivered a speech about his mother’s involvement with the clinic over many years. There were rain showers throughout the event, which was held at the clinic, but spirits were not dampened. People showed up to support the GMCC and enjoy some German fare, a variety of German beers and ales, traditional German music and dancing. ...
