The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic will hold its 14th annual Golf Classic next month.
The Golf Classic will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, on the Plantation Course at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. Registration opens at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:30. An awards banquet will follow.
The GMCC Golf Classic has been a major fundraising event for the clinic thanks to the enthusiastic support of many loyal community members. The new location for this year’s event allows for more golfers to play than in the past, a release stated.
“We have a very loyal group of golfers at the tournament,” said GMCC executive director Arlene Armentor. “Last year we had a few folks who wanted to play but the tournament was full. In response to that, we surveyed our golfers and asked if they would like to try something a little different to be able to accommodate more players.”
Players may register individually for $150 or as a team for $600. Sponsorship opportunities are available as well.
GMCC leadership hopes that an increase in golfers will result in more revenue for the clinic, which devotes all proceeds to caring for uninsured and underinsured patients in Gloucester, Mathews, and surrounding areas, including lower King and Queen County.
